2008 Nordic Battlegroup relies on M3Syst Compact

The Nordic Battlegroup – one of 18 European Union battlegroups – is now equipped with the M3Syst Compact mobile monitoring system from Securiton. Already successfully deployed by the Swiss Armed Forces, the system was delivered to the Nordic Battlegroup in record time.

Securiton’s participation in various trade fairs has borne fruit. Representatives of the Swedish Armed Forces in particular have been following the presentations of the mobile modular monitoring system (M3Syst Compact) with great interest for some time. In May 2007, the project manager of the procurement department of the Swedish Armed Forces contacted those responsible in the Object Projection Sales department at Securiton. He expressed the urgent need for a mobile surveillance system for the Nordic Battlegroup troops.

International battlegroup

The Nordic Battlegroup is one of 18 European Union battlegroups and consists of almost 3,000 soldiers from several Nordic EU countries. It is subordinate to the Swedish Armed Forces and is stationed in Enköping, about 77 km north-west of Stockholm. Training of the unit, which has been operational since mid-2008, has only just been completed.

Following a visit by the Swedish procurement delegation to Securiton in May 2007, including a live demonstration of the surveillance system at the Swiss Armed Forces in Walenstadt, the contract was awarded at the beginning of July 2007. It was agreed that the system would be delivered by the end of April 2008. It was now time to join forces to achieve this ambitious goal. It was only thanks to the unrestricted readiness of the Securiton team, the suppliers and those in charge of the Swedish Armed Forces that the project could be completed within the required time frame. At the beginning of May 2008, three containers with valuable contents left the factory halls for Sweden. The troops received training on the system on site in mid-May.

Simple and versatile

M3Syst Compact essentially consists of two main modules, the monitoring centre container and peripheral devices such as camera and sensor units. The components are easily connected with prefabricated cables. Thanks to the latest IP technology, there is almost unlimited scope for expansion and networking. Even multiple remote objects can be reliably monitored from the control centre. The advantages are numerous. The modular system design enables the protection of small or large objects and areas according to individual requirements. The globally unique concept allows for maximum mobility and flexibility, which allows for adaptations to be made according to new situations at any time.
