Since October 2008, new premises have been in use at the head office of the Securitas Group in Zollikofen. This modern building will allow old temporary buildings to be replaced and dismantled next spring. The new building meets the impending need for modernisation while also impressing thanks to its contemporary architectural design and excellent usability.
The space needed by a company is directly influenced by market demands, activities and objectives. To be efficient and successful, you need a good foundation. Whether in private, in training or in business, a home is a safe harbour, a melting pot of ideas, and a launch pad for setting out to new destinations. In this sense, the building complex on Alpenstrasse in Zollikofen is home to the Group as well as its subsidiaries and affiliated companies. In order to ensure the quality of this important home base, the Securitas Group has renovated some of the facilities here. A new building with modern usability has been created. It replaces the one-storey provisional buildings, which were set up as a temporary solution and will be dismantled in 2009. The new building is located north of the main wing, where intensive construction has taken place since the completion of the planning phase and the ground-breaking ceremony on 25 April 2007.
The new, attractive building has been in use since October 2008 and houses key areas of the Securitas Group on five levels. There is a new showroom in the basement, and the new staff restaurant on the ground floor. The first-floor houses training and meeting rooms, the second floor houses the offices for Securitas AG management and the third floor is home to office space for Certas and TUS. The top floor is equipped with further meeting rooms.
Economical and resource-conserving
The new Minergie-certified building brings together modern, open architecture and a functional and efficient interior design. With a volume of almost 18,000 m3 and a gross floor area of 3,800 m2, the new building sections offer the basis for successful use. From a technical point of view, the heating and cooling system is an interesting one. 25 geothermal probes supply over 5,050 metres of pipes with geothermal heat to heat exchangers, which ensure heating in winter and cooling in summer. The target temperature is sent around 2,250 metres of TABS lines (thermoactive component system lines), which are recessed into the ceilings and ensure a pleasant indoor climate.
60 to 70% of the energy requirements across the entire building are covered by renewable resources. The Minergie design, which also requires a corresponding ventilation system with more than six kilometres of channels and pipes, thus massively reduces energy consumption. Pleasing advancements have been made compared with new buildings from 1975. Whereas every square metre of energy reference area used back then consumes around 22 litres of heating oil per year, this figure is just 4 litres for the new building on Alpenstrasse.
Inviting
In some respects, the newly designed lobby and reception area acts as the building hub. The inviting zone connects existing parts of the building with new ones, connects to the outside world in an inviting way and is also a place where people like to meet. The new buildings on Alpenstrasse fit perfectly into the infrastructures of the Securitas Group and are already fully dedicated to security services. The smooth flow of power and information in the new building is ensured by 99.5 kilometres of power and communication lines – with direct connections to the Group, the market and the public.
