2007 Securitas Group acquires MetaPhysics

On 1 May 2007, the Securitas Group acquired MetaPhysics SA – based in Ste-Croix in the canton of Vaud – from the German group Bartec GmbH. MetaPhysics has focused on the development and production of the TSC 515 line-type temperature sensor cable, which Securiton has been selling around the world for years.

Along with the acquisition of MetaPhysics SA, the Securitas Group has also concluded a long-term, exclusive supply agreement with the previous German owner Bartec, a manufacturer of system components for explosion and environmental protection.

Full programme

With the acquisition of MetaPhysics, Securiton is complementing its range of line-type heat detectors. Safety and protection requirements in the event of rapid temperature increases, as can be seen in tunnel construction or industry, can then be covered professionally. In the event of rapid heat generation, such as that caused by a car fire in a road tunnel, the system can react quickly with the appropriate parameterisation, locate the source of the fire and thus accurately raise the alarm.

On the other hand, the same sensor system can also evaluate, control or monitor a slow rise in temperature by using Bartec solutions together with changed programming. This is often seen at petrochemical and chemical production facilities. The heat cable also performs a valuable service in environments at risk of explosion and fire damp, such as mining. The Securitas Group has granted Bartec the exclusive rights for the aforementioned applications thanks to its global distribution network.

Consolidation

With the acquisition of MetaPhysics SA, the Securitas and Bartec groups are safeguarding the further development of the temperature sensor cable and its applications. It also enables them to consolidate their market position in demanding application areas. MetaPhysics SA currently employs 12 people. The company will continue to operate independently within the Securitas Group. The production facility and sales offices will remain in Ste-Croix.
