In November 1993, Securiton acquired all patents and distribution rights for the products of Multisafe AG from Schaan (FL). While the company has since been dissolved, the Multisafe name has been retained for the established products. This acquisition was an ideal addition to Securiton’s range of sophisticated alarm and security systems.
Multisafe systems have been used successfully for peripheral monitoring or for protecting demanding buildings such as banks, administrative buildings, nuclear power plants, industrial companies, private villas and many others. Other interesting applications include preventive measures against prison breaks. The advantage of the highly sensitive electropneumatic system is that the detection of an attempted break-in or break-out occurs at the obstacle without delay. The detection principle is based on pressure changes in a hollow body. When subjected to slight overpressure, the hollow body becomes deformed or damaged. A pressure change causes a potential-free contact to open in the pressure transducer. This can then be used to trigger a local alarm. Depending on the type of hollow body used, there are two areas of application.
1. Detection of load change
For peripheral monitoring, deformable hollow bodies such as hoses or pressure mats are buried outdoors. Pressure mats are also the preferred solution against climbing over fences, roofs, terraces or walls. These can be mounted under roof panels or covers.
2. Detection of damage
Rigid hollow structures become leaky due to damage (attacks). The pressure drop is detected by the pressure transducer and triggers an alarm. An application like this is ideally suited for external monitoring, for example on grating, rooflight domes, pipes, railings, etc. Double-glazed windows can also be protected in this way. Planning, assembly and maintenance will now be carried out by trained Securiton personnel. For this reason, a Multisafe specialist department has been created in the Zurich office. Elmar Bösch, a former Multisafe employee, is responsible for the transfer of know-how and supports the regional sales units.
